Default cupholder issue

soooo ive looked around and havent found anything about this. so here it is.
i dont like the 1996 es300 cupholders because any drink u place in the holder completly blocks the radio. i was curios if anyone did anything that worked for them. I guess nothing u could really do but to refab the whole middle console. but if any ideas post them up. might be stupid but personally only issue i have with my car haha

I put my most used stations on the first couple numbers and put my cup on the passenger side holder. I only have 3 main stations I listen to anyway...

I rarely drive without my radar detector so obviously I can't use the cup-holder. I can't really do anything about that can I?

Any suggestions regarding my situation Isaac? Or anybody else?

I cant agree more, i have a 94 es300 and they have the same thing i thought the 96's would solve the problem but i guess not , but for this summer i plan on doing a Mod Cup Holder and removing the main one into something, not sure atm but we'll see ^^

At some auto stores I've seen cheapo plastic cupholders that you just hook onto the inside door panel by pushing the U-shaped hook part down inside the door between the panel and the window. Probably wouldn't hold a Super-Slurpy but good enough for a coffee or a small bottle. Not exactly luxo equipment for a Lexus but better than nothing. I rarely use cupholders myself, so the placement of the factory ones doesn't really bother me, but it was a pretty DUMB place to put them.

i cope with it by having my passenger hold my cups lol. but this encourages me to not drink in the car, which is a good thing to do.

Here is what I did on my ES. I too had a problem with my radar detector and/or cell phone charger. Mine does not have heated seats (live in the south) and I used the blank that sits there to add an Aux Plug. Works perfectly and I can keep everything plugged in and still use my cupholder. I really rely on my cupholders driving 3-4K miles per month.

Here is the link to a thread I created on it quite a while back with pics of the results.

Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Yea, I have a cup holder problem too. I have an 02 es and during a blizzard, I parked on the left side of the street so I couldn't open my door, snow was too high. I crawled over to the passenger side and accidentally sat on one of the pieces that folds out. Don't wanna get it done at lexus. Help?
