I need to replace/fix my power steering pressure line from the pump to the rad fan. It will leak out all of my fluid via the fitting into the rad fan in a matter of an hour or so.

Anyone have any hints or tips for the work? It seems pretty tight to get all the way back from the fan to the pump. I was just going to tackle it with a set of hand tools and some common sense but no real instructions. Then either replace with a new hose set or take the failed part to a hydraulic shop for repair.

Anyone know if there are any special procedures or tools needed for the removal/replacement on a 95 es300. Also anything else I should look at while in the areas of the power steering hose.

I'd replace both high pressure hoses 'while your in there'. The hose from the pump to the steering rack is actually 2 pieces, so it'll be 3 hoses total.

If it's the fitting (i.e. connection) between the hose and radiator, maybe things just got loose - have you tried tightening it?

My recently purchased '96 has 177K miles on it and was leaking at the metal crimps on one of the high pressure hoses. I opted to replace both in hopes of things lasting for a while (knock on wood). I posted a pic of the PS system in a thread I started - don't know if it'll help or not but thought I'd mention it.

Well I have removed both of the pressure lines and had them repaired at a hydraulics shop. I ended up having to cut the flex line from the pump to the hard line for the rad fan and also cut the flex line from the pump to the hard line for the steering rack to remove them. The fittings near the pump were seized up such that they would not turn smoothly but rather re-tighten themselves with the twist in the line. Man it is tight in there; I though about dropping the engine brace just to get some room...

Once both lines were free I also removed the power steering pump and cleaned/rebuilt it.

If all goes well tonight I will have it back together and running again with new hoses that are easily serviced in the future with threated fittings vs crimped ones.

Total repair costs, $120.
