Looking to upgrade wheels on a '95 ES300... what is the offset on the factory wheels and if I wish to upgrade to 18x7.5 wheels do I need to buy them with the same offset as the factory 15in wheels or can I buy different offset wheels?

Whats up man, I have 18x7.5 on my 92 ES300 which is the same as your year, the offset I have is 45 with 225/40/18 tires no problems with rubbing at all, any other question just ask, let me know how it turns out.

Hey Lobo,
how is the handling and stability with your wheel setup? I am kinda cautious choosing new wheels because some of the threads I've read had some horrific stories regarding wheel size and offset problems relating to rubbing, poor handling, and instability in steering. With your current setup how much weight can you add to the car without rubbing ( ie. how many passengers, etc)?
Also do you know of other wheel sizes and offsets that will be appropriate for our cars? how about a 42mm offset on a 18x7.5?
I may just choose to go with 17" wheels but I am not sure what offset will be stable on these. My other cars (91 Acura Legend LS, 96 Mustang Convertible) all have 5 lug 114.3mm bolt pattern, so I want some rims that I can safely switch around these cars without handling problems - any ideas?

The handling is great with my wheel setup granted I added 1.6 inch B+G lowering springs and aftermarket struts, the stability is fine also. with 18x7.5 wheels I have had a full load of people 3 in the back two in the front including myself and I have no problems, another thing I had done was, you know on the inside of the fenderwall there is a lip that sticks out, I had that shaved so It gave close to a half inch more clearance, You should be fine with a 42mm offset with 18x7.5 you should fine. As far as using the same wheels on your other cars, the wheels should fut on the acura without problem because the lexus and the acura both have almost identical specs as far as wheels are concerned, not sure about the mustang though, because it may need wider wheels, again not sure on the mustang, let me know if you need anything else, I have through 4 sets of wheels on my ES300 and I am about to get my 5th different setup, so I know from experience what works and what doesn't on the ES300, peace.......

Lexpusher had 18x7.5's, 42 offset w/ 225/40 tires and had rubbing problems that fender shaving didn't fix so I'd hesitate on that combination.
18x8's, 40 offset and 225/40 tires will work well, that's what I and a few others have.
The offset probably won't be right for the Mustang, since the ES is front wheel drive and the Mustang is rear. You may be able to interchange, but it probably won't be a very good fit. If the Legend is FWD (I think it is?) there's a decent chance you'd be able to switch them.

Would you know if an 18x7.5 with a 40mm offset will have rubbing/handling problems? I have some wheels in mind that I like but they only come in 40mm offsets - other than the wheels, I wish to keep everything stock for now so Iam looking for 18s I can ride without problems in stock setup.

Whats up rhino, If I remember correctly the guy only wanted to charge me $30-40 dollars I think but I gave him like $50 because he went out of his way to do it after business hours at his house, real good guy only took an hour or so, so I don't know for sure how much a body shop will do it for, I have a lot of friends that have done work on my cars for less than what most people pay so I don't know exactly what normal costs would be since I always get hooked up, let me know if you have any more questions, be glad to help.

To say the least i would like to start off by saying im not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to rims. I was just woundering what exactly offset is. If anyone can briefly enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated b/c i am looking at these rims that are 18x7.5 but im not sure of the offset. Thanx a lot.
