Default wheel gap question...

I have a 97 es300 and I'm rolling some 225/40/18 and was curious about the wheel gap.. I'm on stock springs but it seems like the rear has less wheel gap. Front u can fit 3 fingers between the tire and fender and the rear u can only fit 2. Is this normal?

I believe in the IS world this is called 'Lexus lean' ?

Anyways, the rear on my 2001 does sit a tad lower than the fronts do.

Yup. All ES's(and a lot of other cars(mostly japanese)) sit like this. I fixed the way mine was sitting with coilovers

Same here...

Just put some new rims on recently. Massive wheel gap in the front, and slightly smaller in the back. Coilovers in the future!

thanks fellas..i guess ill have to get some coilovers to adjust it to the height i want..im afraid if i get springs it wont sit the way i want..can anyone recommend a decent/inexpensive set of coilovers?

here are a few images of the wheels i got for really cheap..well i traded a k&n intake and 100 bucks for them..oh and i put the stock chrome lexus cap on them..but im still trying to decide if i want to keep them or trade/sell them for a stock set of is300 chrome wheels or something to that affect.

^ What's up with your paint?

It almost seems 'matte' finish. Polish that bish up!!!

Btw, nice '01 tails! 'work in progress' i assume?

And cheap coils = not gonna happen for this bodystyle.

It's a neglected car in the aftermarket world in terms of support. It kills me when these clowns off the toyota boards buy some new coilovers for 1000$ USD, put on 10k miles & still expect like 800$ USD for the set.

Hence why you won't find them on the cheap

^are u sure about that..i just checked ebay and theres a set for 99.95 and then there is kyb struts for 260... so for about 400 ish sounds better then a G but it seems like the tanabe df120 lowering springs lower the car in the front more than the rear..might consider those...
