Default Sticky weights?

I just had Costco rebalance 4 new Michelin Energy tires because of vibration at highway speeds.

According to them, it looks as though sticky weights fell off and because of that the front tires were off. They said they fixed it (I hope so!).

My question is, "Why does the ES330 use the sticky weights, not the conventional weights?"

They were being lazy im sure. What year is your es? Most of the rims do use the conventional weights that clip on. Mine did. Or they ran out. They should clean the rim before sticking the weights on. They probably didnt clean it very well before sticking them on. I guess it happens. I hope they fixed it for free and didnt charge you.

I would think it depends on if you have factory wheels or not, and depends on where you take it for service. You could ask them as well.

My 3GS wheels use sticky weights, as does my RX330. They need to clean it better thats all

yah, some wheels, even though they can use the tack on weights, simply look better if the weights are not tacked on to the outside of the wheel, and instead stick on weights are used inside...

if its cold, they have a hard time sticking, if the wheel is dirty (they all are), they have a hard time sticking... they just needed to clean it better with alcohol or another cleaner first...

stick on weights actually cost about twice as much as tack on weights, so they were really doing you a favor (trying to, at least)
