Dude my girlfriend has a TSX. Every time I drive it I talk sh&t about how stiff, small, tight, underpowered, loud, and unstable it drives lol. And she is already on her second trans as well......Definately not even worth considering, believe you me!

What happened to the TSX that it needed a 2nd transmission? I dont believe the TSX had any transmission problem unless the wrong fluid was used.
The TSX I drove was underpowered, but it handled pretty decently and quality was what you'd expect from an entry level luxury. Definitely not ES quality, but then again, the TL competes with it not the TSX.

The trans redlined 1st to 2nd before switching. Luckily enough she purchased an extended warranty for it so it only cost her $50. She also needed something in the steering column replaced which was like $700, again she only paid $50. She loves the car but personally I couldn't go from an ES to the TSX due to lack of comfort. To each their own I guess...

ok, i have had a bad experience with acura tl. dont get me wrong, i love the look, feel, and performance. but they are sometimes a headache. i got my 2000 tl from the auction and it needed transmission, motor mount. all this stuff that i can never fully understand because the mechanic didn't bother telling all of it. it was basically going to cost 7,000 to repair all (totaled without accident). i was also looking into a honda accord but both these cars have transmissions that are unreliable. if before i think 108k, the transmissions are backed by replacement from acura (i think) but after then is when the problems start as well. then you are s.o.l. the mileage that tl has is asking for trouble with future repairs. the big 108 has not hit yet, and all repairs will come out of your pocket. i love them, and especially the S. but ideally, lexus is all around a better car than the tl. Better value, better reliance. I would just leave the tl alone after being through what i went through. looks aren't everything.

I once was interested in Acura TL but after reading post on the tranny, I kind of feel like better look somewhere else. For ES, there also complaints on the engine as well. But do some research, it makes me believe the ES is somewhat better build than the TL. They both have problem areas but TL has a better look, (IMO) Since I know a good tech from TOYOTA, if I were you, I will keep the ES unless you have friends/tech they know Acura well enough.

All I have to say is that it has a FORD engine! Read about it but I would stay away from Madza 3/6. Just my two cents.

The thing is I bought my 00" ES300 here with about ~200K miles drove it for about a week and a half and the engine blew up :[ replaced it with a new one that has ~5K on it.
