Low pressure A/C Port giving High Pressure readings
I tried recharging my A/C with some freon, because the A/C LED light inside will blink, and then start blowing hot air intermittently. Sometimes pressing the botton on and off helps, but not always.
Went and bought a recharge can (freon) with the gauge meter built in. When AC is operating normally, the light is solid, and levels read 55 PSI (which is the correct level for a 90 degree day based on the chart), but when A/C starts blinking, and I check the pressure, it reads 120 (which is also in the red zone which indicates mechanical problem)!!!! What could really be the problem. I am stumped...

Its only going to read the correct readings when the compressor has kicked in. Also your RPM's should be about 1500rpm when checking the level as well. When the compressor is not on its going to read high on any system. Im not an expert, but this is what I have noticed and two refills that I have done. What I did was take my car to Tiresplus and they have an A/C check for 19.99. They told me how low my freon was and then I knew exactly how much freon I should put in.

(which means normal), does this ever stop blinking? Or does it give the reading immediately?

On mine it gives the reading right after pushing the buttons. I don't know what to tell you, I'm just as clueless. It says the a/c light blinking means the compressor was locked, which should result in some error code. It says that the revolution detecting sensor would be the culprit in my FSM. It can be checked while on the vehicle.

for the record, when i turned at sharp radii, water would leak into the passengers footwell. took it to the shop, and told me, both high and low pressure ports will level out when blocked. cleaned the discharge hose, and no more drips, and cold air now!
