Thanks so much kev, I appreciate your help. I called these two mentioned places. they said want to run a few test and then determine what it, but they will rebuild the tranny. I was told its better to get a old one from the junkyards and just replace it. what do you think?

Hey kev I meant was get a transimssion from a junk yard and have that put in, I cant afford a new one dude, LOL. I will see what it is, taking the car to the dealer tommorow to get it checked, I figured the dealer would be more reliable as compared to private tranny place.
I am in dix hills, suffolk county.

get used transmission you are talking about $1200-$1500 I guess.
I put a used tranny on my 97 Camry 2 months ago $1200. Even though my Camry is not a V6 but I think the tranny a very close.
the used tranny is a 98, 100K miles from a local Toyota/Lexus part store and I had a guy work at Toyota did the job for me on the side.
drives ok so far.
I went to a transmission shop, the guy told me $2700 to rebuild or ~$1500 to put on a used one.

So kev I dropped the car to the lexus dealer to get it checked. one of my friend's bro works at a transmission shop, he told me my cars transmission is U140E. which is the expensive one, will cost me 3000 to rebuild. so lets see what the dealer tells me.
I didnt do anything with the rims, lol, no plans so far.

The transmission I got is U140E, all the junk yards I check online and in person have my transmission, a trany shop told me atleast 3000. will wait and see what the lexus dealer tells me is wrong and how much it will cost to fix it.

My guess is they will say you need a new tranny (remanufactured). Most dealership won't spend time fixing tranny, they will just pop a new one in it.

Yes, everything works find so far. How's your 98 driving so far? roll back on D, jumpy in R? press the gas and took 1, or 2 second before the car will move (slowly?)

how many miles do you have on your Camry? I had 177K on the old tranny. I tried to list the car as is, got calls around $1000-$1500. Now with the used tranny, I can still drive it for few more years or sell it for $3K the most.
