Default Accessory Compatibility ES vs RX

Didnt know where to ask this question other than the ES or RX section, I've also done a search and cant find a definite answer. My question is, from my understanding, some parts from the 3rd Gen ES300 are compatible or share the same parts with the RX300. I'm wondering if the shift handle, wood and leather shift **** from the AT /OD RX300 will fit the 3rd Gen AT / OD shift stick? And if it will, what year RX300 will work? Thanks.

Finding one for even a half decent price has been as difficult as finding if it is even compatible. I'm prepared to buy one though without knowing and being the test mule on this one.

I thought about doing the same thing, but dont know how much of test mule I want to be. If I can find a **** for around 50 bucks, then maybe, but anything higher, I feel I would be a jackass, rather than a mule, lol.

Someone has to do it. Think of how it'll look if it does work!

I looked into this a few weeks ago. I only saw one or two listings for just the ***** regardless of color and they're going for $150-200. I've come across some shift assemblies for around $150 via ebay, craiglists and online searchs and quote requests, and I've considered going that route and selling the rest of the assembly minus the **** on here. No salvage yard that I've contacted has been wiling to sell just the ****. Other than those two options either one of us will get lucky at a junkyard or be willing to see if the leather version for the RX300 fits (thats assuming the leather and woodgrain RX300 ***** are the same).

If I can find a good price for the **** or whole shifter assembly then I will try it out. Question then: What year RX300 has the wood and leather shift **** with the OD button? I will give this a try if the price is right. Thank you everyone.

I'll be the test mule on this one. I bought an entire assembly earlier today, should ship today so hopefully I'll have it this week.

As a side note, I believe the tan and grey interiors had the same color shift ****. I've looked on autotrader and I can't tell the difference in color between woodgrain shift ***** in grey interior RX300's and tan interiors.

EDIT: Angmedic, how exactly did you remove the stock **** from your ES? I have mine off, but I really ******ed it up in the process, i.e. O/D button is no longer intact. I couldn't figure out how to disconnect the O/D cable.

I looked at the RX **** when it's dissembled, it doesnt ressemble exactly the ES's. If it does work out, I have a feeling there's gonna be at least a little modification involved.

But I gotta figure out how to disconnect the O/D wires.
