Default Why does a wheel weight fall off?

A weight on the rear left wheel of my '06 330 has fallen off twice (Costco did the job). Why does it fall off? Aren't weights secured?

Wheel weights are secured with the finest of double-sided 3M tape - Durable stuff!

You have to live with it unfortunately.

some wheel weights clip on to the lip of the rim, mostley OEM type rims and most use the stick on weights on the inside of rim. They use some type of double sided tape, dont know if it 3M or not, but it some sort of adhesive and after awhile, it could come off, especially if you hit run over lots of potholes, could cause them to jar loose and fall off.

Unless the area was properly degreased and cleaned, the weight will not adhere and fall off. Especially at high speeds, or if it was attached to an area were the paint was flaking off.

If the area is properly prepared, and the surface is solid, than the weights will not fall off.

Why would i be kidding about wheel weights? It's not that funny...

One side is mated to the back of the weight and the other is peeled off and stuck on the rim.

This is what the problem is. Most of these places its 'in & out'. My mechanic cleans up the area where it is to be applied and sticks them on.
