Hey guys! I just joined today for my daily driver a 95 lexus ES300. My fun toy is a 1991 MR2 Turbo with some goodies
. Anyway I went to get my car inspected today and they stated my rack and pinion is not leaking but there is build up around the boot. My question is, is it possible to just replace the 15 year old boot and resolve the issue? The leak is not dripping or hitting the floor or anything like that.

No this is the first I noticed of this as the car was having a pre sale inspection and they explained to me that it may need replaced. However they just looked at it and saw the buildup. Driving shows no sign of any issue.

![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a 95 ES, which I took to two different shops, in which both stated that "that the bushing were bad and I needed to change the R & P unit. My question is? Can I just change the bushing without changing the whole rack It would be a lot cheaper if I could do it that way. The racks are running around 5 something from the dealer, about 2 on e-bay. If any one has a commit on this subject, I sure would like to hear it , before i put out the cash. Thanks
