My friend and I are building a custom sub box for my '93 ES to hold a single 10" sub and an amp mounted on the side of the box. I had a two-fold goal here, first to effectively mount and secure the single 10 and it's coordinating amp but second to conserve as much trunk space as possible.
I could have mounted the amp to the bed of the trunk and bought a Q-logic box for the sub, but that uses a lot of space and where's the fun in it?
Sub: 10" Infinity Reference Series
Amp: US Acoustics USX-2100 in 300 x 1 @ 4 Ohm bridged mode
The box we are building contours to the general curves of the trunk paneling along the passenger side and the rear of the trunk. It will have about .72 cubic feet and will be completely sealed (as per sub optimum performance specifications).
We are building it out of 3/4 inch medium density fiberboard (MDF) so it will be strong and won't resonate.
I'll post pictures of the completed product later. (If anyone's interested I could make more of them and ship them out, that is if it works well and sounds nice).
Also, anyone have any suggestions for me? Anyone with previous experience to offer any insight?
Thanks a ton-
Matt
