'95 ES Cluster lights keep blinking
2 years ago I bought some cluster LED's and I followed the tutorial on this forum on how to replace your cluster bulbs. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...ing-bulbs.html
It looked GREAT for about 3 months, then, one at a time, they started blinking for a few weeks and eventually they would go out completely.
I Figured i didnt install them correctly, so since i'd have to go back there again, i bought brighter LED's and installed them again, but this time (following the recommendation of a poster)i wrapped them in electrical tape to give them a tighter fit. Again, they looked awesome for a few months, then they started to blink and now all but 1 are out.
I dont know if they are loose however, because they dont blink when i hit a pothole or a bump, they will blink constantly, even when im in park. Why are they doing this? Did this happened to anyone else? It's a PITA to take them out every few months... Thanks!

LEDs generally require a super OCD 12v of power to run perfectly. Anything higher will shorten their lifespan considerably and anything lower will lengthen their life but it wont be as bright. The problem with cars now and back then is that they aren't regulated to 12v. They fluctuate from 10.2v all the way up to 15.6v and beyond. I would suggest installing a Sharp 12v regulator in the circuitry of the cluster but IMO you probably don't know what that is and it is a pain in the butt to do anyway. Try finding an LED rated to at least 14-15v for best longevity

Wow thanks eyezack87. I wonder why there were no other complains similar to mine in that thread. I would imagine that everyone would have this problem... What you said, does make sense... Thanks again.

Glad I was able to help! I don't think other people went OCD like me haha. When my first LED bulbs blew, I was determined to find out so that was what I sent out to discover. I went back to normal halogens for now to keep my sisters happy since I'm not the primary driver anymore
If you want to be super fancy, custom the LEDs. You pick a resistor that will fit up to 16v and attach it to a bare LED and solder it into place. It will last a lot longer if you do it that way but its quite time consuming and requires some skill. I would have done it if I had white LEDs to play with but all I have is about 1000 red ones LOL
