According to Lexus National it is not a "problem". Normal operation as far as they are concerened. They developed the "flash"because so many people complained about the shift delay that they had no choice. It has a VVTI engine. Have the memory reset and drive the car very hard for 30 days. That is about all you can do to make it a little better but you will never get totally

All you need to do is disconnect the battery so the shifting computer's memory will be reset. From there drive the vehicle like you normally do so that it's adapted to you.
For example, if I am out driving really fast with my friends on Friday night, my ES hesitates because it's used to me gradually accelerating and such.
If you still aren't happy with its performance than take it to the dealership to have the firmware upgraded on the computer to solve the problem.
