Another LED Conversion Instrument Cluster Question...
Hello everyone,
For the past few weeks I have been postposning replacing the burnt out filament bulbs in the instrument cluster and I have been doing as much research as possible into possibly putting in LED bulbs. I have searched the forum for DIY or any other relevant information but i only get results for other models and other years which don't really coincide with my 94 ES300. (since the other require soldering and other nonsense).
Basically my question is.. Is it as simple as swapping a filament bulb to a LED bulb or is there some kinda "resistor" (which i keep reading about) that I need to install?
I have been looking at these ...
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...ge.html%23wled ..
which fit the 194 size, or do I need to purchase the entire twist mount that will fit with the bulb and instrument board..
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...nstrument.html
Any relevant help will be much appreciated.
One more thing,.. I intend to avoid "spotting" such as this -> https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...d-upgrade.html
So I was wondering if an LED with a wider angle such as the WLED xHP @120 degrees would more or less prevent this issue.. Thanks again

Lol, the resistor bit is probably from me. You only need it if you don't want to keep replacing the bulbs from time to time. Otherwise its just plug and play. My advice, buy them from jp_warden2002 on ebay. They're cheap enough to replace. Doing the whole voltage regulation bit can be pricey and you have to have some know-how for the electronics of the car.
Also, wider beam does help eliminate some spotting but only a true custom set up will do it correctly. Good luck!
