Default 97 Es300 114k Miles. Is It A Good Buy?

I am looking for a 97+ ES 300 and I found one today. It is a 97 one but has 113k miles on it. The price is $9000.00 firm. Assume everything is OK. Is it a good buy? How many miles can it run? 200K? 300K?
Thanks a lot

i dunno man. i wouldnt say its the best out there. my 95 ES just hit 90k miles. yah i got low miles i know. but for a 97+ you should be able to find a nice lexus certified pre-owned, which will have half as much miles as what u found and a lexus warranty til i think 100k.

yeah but he probably wouldnt be able to find a certified pre-owned lexus for $9,000. When i was car shopping, the least expensive certified pre-owned lexus i found was a 1996 Es 300 with 70,000 miles on it for about $16,000. I ended up getting a 94 with only 58,000 for $11,900.

The Lexus place inspected the car and said that everything looked great

Alot of it depends on what kind of miles those are. Most Lexuses are driven pretty nicely, not pushed real hard all the time. That is high mileage for a 97, but the car should have alot of good miles left in it, especially if it's taken care of. I'd hesitate to buy a domestic with high mileage, but my ES had 127K on it when I got it but by all indications had been pampered it's entire life. It's needed a few things fixed: motor mounts, valve cover gaskets, CV boot; brake pads; but no major problems; stills runs great. Lexuses are solid cars made to last a long time.

I'd base your decision on the condition of the car and how long you intend to keep it, whether it's gonna be worth it to you; and get a thorough inspection.

My local Lexus dealership wanted $14,900 for a '97 (non-CPO) with 98K on it, saw it about a month ago when I went to get an oil change. Also, I believe there is a mileage cutoff for CPO, regardless of model year, at around 65K, I'm sure the Lexus corporate site would have more info. But you definitely do pay a premium for the CPO.

The type of milege is everything on a car. If it's 113k city mileage then it's a tough call. Are there service records avaliable? If it's highway mileage then it's usually better. Sounds like a reasonable price as long as the upkeep has been done. Check www.kbb.com In N.Y. the price is around 12k in excellant condition.
Car still has alot of life left as long as it's been regulary maintained then you should be good to go. One thing for sure is that you will not be able to find a CPO lexus for that amount of money. Everything depends on the size of your wallet.

I bought my 93 ES300 with 67K on it for $9,999 with a 12 month bumper to bumper from the dealer. It was too old to be CPO, but the dealer backed it up with the 12 month. 114K is high for most cars, but it's a lexus that will last. Check up on where it has been driven, if the guy just had a long commute to work on the turnpike or thruway, then i'd say it's probably worth it. If it's a city car, i would doubt it. If you can see service records of all the recommended maintenances then it'd be an even better deal.

Default SLUDGE!

The biggest problem with all Toyota 3.0 V6 engines is sludge!
Have the valve covers removed and check for sludge. This comes from poor mantinence.
