Exclamation mysterious box in trunk of 1993 es300

hi everyone, i just started on a project on a a'93 es300...going o revamp it and all....while cleaning out the trunk and taking measurements, i came across a mysterious looking plastic box placed on the back of the rear seats..meaning i could see it when i peeped inside the trunk towards the rear seats.

this box was similar to a "tool box", it was slim, and placed neatly, and you could slide it in and out...it contained a plastic bag..tht you can pull from one end, but not pull it out completely.

you cant place anything in it, so i wanted to know wht is it?why is it there?can you guys hit me back asap...

regards
proud new lexus owner

Sounds like something someone would use to transport drugs. A hidden drug compartment ?

Anyway that is interesting that these ES300s have that trunk feature. Our 2000 doesn't.

It is a ski pass through. If you pull down the armrest in the center of the rear seats, their is a lockable door. If you open the door, you can pull the bag through. It allows you to keep your skis in the trunk and pass through the passenger compartment without allowing any water/melting snow to get into your interior.
