Default Buying a 2000 ES300 tomorrow, Suggestions!!

Hey guys im a Current GS owner and have owned 3 of them. Recently i sold my lifted jeep and want to buy another lexus so i found a 2000 es300 with 122k miles for 7k out the door at the lexus dealer. The car itself is in immaculate and i mean immaculate condition. The lady that bought it with 20k miles was a doctor and the car has about 15k in recepits from the same dealer she bought it and the same dealer im getting it from. The timing belt was done 5 years ago at 65k miles. The car drove perfect at 85 mph i even removed my hands from the wheel and it went straight for a mile. The brakes arent brand new and the tires half about 60 percent left but the car is in such amazing condition. One bad thing i did notice is that the car was a little rough for about the first 2-4 minutes that i started it, and the idle was a little high, any suggestions on this? Thank you and do you guys have any suggestions on the price?

by the way here is a link to the pics

yea carfax reports one ower for 2 years in a city close to me then the owner that traded it in had it for 8 years and the dealer pulled up all her records and had printed them out for me it was seriously like 2 inches thick of records in a manila folder. the timing belt is about 60k miles old though and the car sounded a little loud like the exhaust/vibration slightly for the first couple minds of operation but by the time i was out of the dealer it had stopped.

it the same color, same year as mine aswell. I love it. I bought it at 220,000 miles for $4,000 put a new engine in it for $2,000. My friend rear ended me, now having scratches on the bottom of the back bumper, and my dad backed out and smash my front, broke a piece of my front bumper. I also need a new catalytic converter. I have the worst luck ever lol.. but anyway you will love the car though its amazing. Also, what kind of GS do you have?

Nice find especially because I see it has the autoleveling HID's :-) That was a requirement for me when I was searching for a 00-01 ES. Looks like its real clean 7K out the door seems somewhat reasonable so your getting the car for about $6300-$6400ish. As reference I bought my 00 ES300 Platinum with 103,000 miles mint one owner a couple months ago for $7300 plus tax title license. So it came out to be just a little above $8K out the door.

Take off the front valve cover to check for sludge. Also check the transmission, engine and suspension for abnormal noises and leaks. If the spark plugs are still the original ones it's time to have them changed.

Nice car, I looked at this one too. Bought my 04 es from this dealer, very good dealer. Hope they treat as good as they treated me over the years. Take your time and look the car over real good. I'm sure it will be good. Take care and enjoy the car.

hey thats cool, yea i bought my GS from them and i love it, the GS as well was in mint condition, the only thing that scares me about the ES is that when i first started it the car was a little rough, and the rpm at idle were at 1500 but lexus does this all 3 of my GS's did this until they got warmed up, hower the es was a little rough, but after a couple of minutes it completely smoothed itself out. i will check it agian tomorrow to make sure. Do they offer any kind of warranty on their cars even though it says as is, like a 15 day warranty or something, i thought dealers did that but im not sure.

How come you didnt go for it or you wanted to get the newer model?

The only reason I didn't get the car is It was a want more then I need a car. Work is very slow now and I work for a defense contractor, picking up soon. My 04 es and 04 Impala are paid for, need to save money. Have a tech check out the idle, should be ok if it smooths out. If my wife said buy, I would have bought it. Great looking car and in great shape. Take care and have fun with it.

Tim
