Exclamation dashboard needles have no light

Hi...i have a 1993 es300, and the all 4 needles on the dashboard (temperature, rpm, speed, fuel) have no lights on em...the dashboard itself does, so do all the warning lights...but just the needles arent lit up...any ideas?is it an easy fix? is it a fuse problem, if so which fuse exactly?

note: 1/100 chance that randomly one of these 4 needles flickers for a mili second randomly...ie. if i start the car 100 times, once i do see an orange flicker somewhere....

waiting for expert opinions

Burnt out gauge needles was a very common problem in the 2nd generation (1992-1996) ES300. I think my DIY is probably the least expensive solution that actually works. Only the tip is re-illuminated due to the difficulty involved in trying to relight the whole needle by do-it-yourself means. There is a place in Tennessee you can send your whole instrument cluster to and they will do it for you and then ship it back to you (at your expense) but as mentioned at the top of my write-up, I didn't feel this option was for me for a variety of reasons, so I decided to do it myself and post the steps so others could do it too. If you don't feel comfortable about attempting this yourself, the name of the business in Tennessee is: www.lextech.org

I had a similar problem, and also reviewed the several DIY's to modify them (the best of which is Lexucan's IMO). I went a different route, waited until a set/pair/individual needle came up on EBay at the best price. I bought 1 long and 1 short, about $25.00 shipped first. Then the one working long one quit, an original which was flickering, then one of the short ones started to flicker. I ordered another set of 4, about $90.00, from a different seller.
To make a long story short, I was offered and received a replacement set of 3 from the EBay seller who I bought the set of 4 from. I now have all 4 working perfectly (but for how long, I can't say), and extra ones in various states of 'flickerdom'. (This seller doesn't have any needles listed right now).
There's a guy in Quebec Canada that offers a rebuild service, for about $100.00. He'll get my old needles to be rebuilt when the one(s) in there now go **** up. Search EBay for 'Lexus needles'.
I'd add that these seem to work best in cooler weather, and with the dimmer setting at about midway.

i found this link http://tinyurl.com/2erfdse on ebay to a LEXUS ES300 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDLE 97-00... In the description he says that it should work for ES300 from 1991- 1999(but is not guarateed). Does any one know about if it will work for a 94 es300?? ... the price is kinda outrageous but i;ll still grab it if i know that it works

The shape of the needle pictured is different from the 1993 es300, and you can compare with your own, but maybe the pins are the same....I don't know. If the 93 and 94 are the same, and I think they are, I wouldn't chance it.

yea.. i was thinking the same thing... but the upside is that those needles arent defective and burn out like what everyone has experienced... i might try to find those needles at the junk yard or thru craigslist or something... I will keep everyone posted...
