You said "Rotors are rotors they're all made by the same people" which is simply not true.
I put the cheapest rotors I could find on a friend's Corolla a couple of years ago, it was a car she paid $1000 for just to get a year out it, till she could graduate college and get a real job, and go into debt with a car payment. I think they were $15 each at AutoZone, the casting was rough and it felt poorly machined. Within that year, the rotors were horribly rusty and were warped.
I bought OEM Toyota rotors for my '98 last spring. They were a thing of beauty.

Sorry for reviving a dead post, but I have a question concerning brake pads. I need to replace the rear pads on my '05 es330, so I called a local Lex dealer's parts dept. The parts guy asked me to give him the last 8 digits of my VIN because he said there were 3 different part numbers for that year. After doing so, I asked him for the part number but he said he couldn't give it to me, as it was against policy. How can I find the correct part number for my rear pads? I'd like to go with the OEM pads, but want to make sure I'm getting the right ones when I order.

I first went to the nearby Toyota shop to get the pads but he said because he doesn't have access to the Lexus parts numbers, he would need be to bring him that or he would have to order them thru Lexus. That's when I called the Lexus dealership.

Ridiculous, the part numbers are not a secret! Go to this site and enter your VIN, you'll get the part numbers straight away. You can also do a search on OES 1893273 that should be the front pads for your car, but do the VIN search to make sure do get the correct replacement.

My front pads i changed every 60k and my front calipers and rotors went at 130k. My rear pads i changed about every 60k, same with the fronts which was weird they wore at about the same level, but just ecently replaced the original oem calipers and rotors on the back at 181k miles. I am sure that rust where i am did not help as the rear rotors and calipers looked beat.

LexusPartsNow.com has some, about 80 bucks each plus shipping, bet they look better than cheapies.
Picked up a set of Brembo blanks and drums for my 83 sr5 pickup, beautiful stuff from Italy, have not seen the Chinese ones to compair.
Just got this 99' a couple weeks ago and it had a dealer brake job already done. Brembo blanks for sure later, maybe the brembo pads, hps or akebonos, need to do more research.
