self oil change - ES300
I have a few questions about the oil change on my 2001 ES 300:
Does it use the same size oil filter as the V6 Camry?
What's an easy way to take the oil filter out?
Is there anything I should be prepared for?
Would appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks

as far as the oil filter size you got me if it is the same... if you are not by a lexus dealer to get a lexus one then ask the toyota parts counter that question. I also would recomend a K&n if you want to go aftermarket.
Easy removal in the auto biz I have reallized you pray the last guy didn't crank it on with a wrench (please dont do this when you install your new one tight and a half turn that is it) I would recomend the "cup type" socket which will give you all the posible grip you need. I also have not had a problem with oil filter wrench made for oil filter but these get very bulky and hard to get in on most cars not sure bout yours.
prepare for ....... hmmm ....well if you just shut off the engine watch the oil is hot and it does burn quite nicely.
experience can tell lol other wise watch that you dont spill the oil on every thing cause it will make a smokey mess when you start driving again.
As alway if you have any other ?? let me know i will be glad to help.

get a flat surface...flat flat flat. my driveway has a slight hill and my street is curved to let the rain gather along the sides so i have no place to do it myself.

Toyota/Lexus 90915-20004 is the top choice. Made in Japan by Denso. But more expensive than the lower quality domestic-made filters.
