New To Here, Hi Everyone
hey guys, im new on here..... i been a fan of the es300 for a long time, and i had a very bad experience with my first car..... a 2000 Mustang GT, it had frame damage and we had to sell it back to the owner... long story
anways, for my second car, im going to purchase a 1993 Lexus ES300, i have already found the car from a private owner, and it has 80,000 miles, metallic green, tan interior with goldpackage... nice car overall, but theirs a problem. The left back window is stuck, the owners nephew broke it. How much do you think it would cost to fix it? The owner is going to try to fix it before he sells it to us, but i just want opinons or whatever. Well the car overall looks beautiful, and we will be taking it to a family friend to look over it.

Welcome! Hope you enjoy the car, totally different than a Mustang, but an excellent car. I really like the dark green color too, that's what mine is. A few things to check would be the motor mounts, valve cover gaskets, and CV boots; these are a few things that come to mind that would be typical problems for a car that age.
If the current owner doesn't have the window fixed, I'd take it to a dealer before you buy and get an estimate for repair; then have them deduct that from the purchase price.

at first the owner thought it was 100$ to fix it, he obviously didn't know much about the problem, so we called a dealer and they said it was going to be 500$... but i doubt it would really be that much. So, he has decided to try to fix it himself.... tommorow he will be working on it. I'm having a friend to go and see the car, and also taking it to a professional. I hope the broken window was the only thing wrong. Thx for your response.

if the window problem is due to a bad window motor, it should be about $300. kyle harty pointed out some good places to look for damage, i also wanted to add air hose and possibly the struts.

Nope, cd changer was optional, as was a power moonroof, leather, and heated seats. Nearly all of them came equipped with leather, most had a moonroof also. I'd say about half of them have a cd changer, and less than that came with heated seats.

Nabeel, I've had to replace all those too, pretty typical wear and tear.
I guess I should feel lucky to have the heated seats. I'm planning on parking it over the next winter, but they made this last Minnesota winter alot more comfortable. I think mine had everything but the changer, and that would have been pulled out before long anyway.
On a side note prompted by the changer discussion, I'm finally getting more work done on my stereo install. I'm excited, give me a couple weeks and my front stage will be done. I'm thinking about putting a 6 disc Alpine changer in the glovebox, should fit easily with a fair amount of useable glovebox left over.

Dood I parked my car last winter too, but after the first big snow I took it out for a test run. ES300 + 4-5 Inches of snow = hell....VERY hard to drive...haha Ive been used to the performance of badass 4wd trucks in the winter though, so I guess theres a bias.. =)

I didn't have any major problems with the ES last winter, better than the Civic I had the winter before, a 4WD truck is nice for the snow. I've got a 89 Buick Century I'll be slapping snow tires on for next winter, save the miles and wear on the Lex. I'll miss the Lexus though, hopefully it's a short winter.
