2003 Lexus ES300 hid ballast
My 2003 es300 headlight went out and it came equipped with factory hid xenon headlights. One of my headlights burned out and I was wondering if I can replace the bulbs with 10000k bulbs and not change the ballasts. Would everything work okay ? Or if someone knows the ratings on the ballasts that would b great. Thanks.

Very true. At 10000K, the color will be blue/purple and you will get very little actual light output.
Stock/OEM HID's are generally about 4300K, and optimum output is about 4300K-5000K, where the light is brightest and almost a pure white.

Thanks for the advice. Is the replacement 6000k or 8000k? So I can get the exact replacement

The max you want to go is 6000K. That is what I use on my HID Projectors.
The 2003 though has the reflector bowl style HID's. I would recommend just going with the stock 4300k bulbs, but if you want it to look a little blue 6k is okay.

Hey megafast, I saw your youtube video here and had a few questions if you'd be so kind.
I have a 2003 ES300 with the halogen lights but would like HIDs like the setup you've got. Did you do a Halogen-->HID replacement? If so, about how much did it cost and which items did you get at HIDextra? I'm a complete neophyte here and am just starting my research so any tips would be very helpful.
Great video, too! Thanks

My 2002 came with halogen lights. I upgraded to not only and HID kit I purchased the projector headlights off of a 2005 ES330. That way it looked clean, have perfect cutoff and light output. I would never just slap an HID kit into my standard halogen lights because it would have been hideous. I could have upgraded to the 2004 ES reflector style HID lights but I went with the projector ones.

So I don't really know which headlights from a 2005/06 es300 should I buy that will fit my bulbs, so I'd appreciate it if someone helps me.

If you want the most light output use 4300k. If want the best color use 6000k. If you want something in between use 5000k. Forget about going beyond 6000k because it makes having HID's pointless.
Yes, you can get an exact 6000k replacement, it is called a D2R for reflectors and D2S for projectors.

how do i convert from reflector type xeon hid's to projectors in 02 es300?
hey guys know this is a super super old thread, but im 24, and just bought my first lexus. it's an 02 lexus es300 for a STEAL, i paid 800 bucks for it and its been basically garage kept, runs great super clean besides failing paint on roof. anyways, i have the xeon HID headlights and will be replacing the passenger side ballast since its bad. i just saw someone talking about how they got projector conversion instead of the reflector type, and i believe i have the reflector type and would love to have the projector because thats what i have in my 2007 Cadillac sts4 and they're fantastic. how would i go about doing this? what might i need to buy for it? and would i have to do alot of electrical splicing and dicing?

Hello,
From what I found online, it should be possible to install post-facelift HID Projector headlights in your car, you can find a couple of links on the subject below. That said, those headlights will set you back half of what you paid for the whole car, which raises the question of whether it's worth it? Pre-facelift headlights also work great, but it all depends on what you plans are for this car..
Will the 2005 ES330 headlights fit in my 2004

Hope this helps and best of luck!
