Default Timing Belt /Water Pump Average Service Cost

I was curious what the average service costs were on replacing the timing belt and water pump? On a Lexus ES300 '98-'02

I had the timing belt service done at my local Lexus dealer in Naperville IL at 100,000 miles on my 2000 ES300 Platinum. Here are the details.

Timing belt service labor....$649
Timing belt...$80.00
Water pump assy---$158
antifreeze...$26.33
Vane pump belt...$31.80
Alternator belt... $28.95

So total labor was $649, parts cost $325.11, environmental fee $15.00, tax $24.66

Total out the door cost of getting the water pump service done to my 00 ES300 Platinum was $1013.77 at Lexus.

Sucks to have to pay so much to get it done but whatever it had to be done and I would have rather had it done at Lexus instead of some other place. I know it could have probabaly been done for cheaper but thats alright.
Hope this helps you out.

James

I've heard it said on the sc430 forum that you can get it done at a toyota dealer for less.

I recently had my ES300 serviced at a Toyota and Lexus dealer and the cost was about the same, but with Lexus you get a loaner car. I had them do a valve job at the Toyota dealer and the labor charge was about the same at Lexus. So in the future, I will just take my car to Lexus, also for the free loaner. Also, the service tech told me if I bought the parts somewhere else, I can have them (Lexus) install the parts for me, so it would just be labor cost they would charge me.

I was charged $880 at a toyota dealership. A local shop offered to do this for $550.
The local shop was going to take a few days and I needed my car asap so I had to take it to Toyota.
Don't take it to Lexus

I had my 04 ES done at the dealer. I just wasn't comfortable with my local shop shop doing it. paid $800 for belt and water pump, car had 88000 miles at the time, If you can trust a local shop, go for it.
