NO updates regarding a '02 transmission hesitation fix
I know we posted serveral messages about the '02 ES300 transmission hestitation delay in the past. This issue involves a 1-3 sec delay when fully pressing down on the gas pedal. Not all '02 ESs have this issue.
I submitted a complaint to Lexus (800-255-3987 #4) a few months ago. I called today for an update and was surprised to hear that my complaint case record was actually closed. How can a compliant be closed if the issue isn't resolved? Beats me!
Anyway, the rep did acknowledge that this is a manufacturer issue and does not involve my dealership. No, really?

Sorry to hear that.
It seems most people who have transmission problems have tried other '02 ES cars and have come to the same conclusion. So it's probably a characteristic of the transmission that's present in all '02 ES.
I don't have any complaints of my own for the transmission, but maybe I'll pay the price when there's a semi coming at me and I actually need to floor the gas pedal.

I have posted a complaint on planetfeedback.com regarding a tranny on 2002 ES300 and Lexus actually called me back. They are admitting not that there is a problem with a tranny, but that there are people not satisfied with its performance. In other words, tranny is not faulty, it is performing the way it is supposed to. people just don't like the way it is designed to perform.
Lexus said they have a team form Japan in the US right now, looking to see if there is a fix for it. I mentioned that 2002 Camry already had a software fix for the tranny, but I guess our transmission is not the same. Just sit and wait, I'm kinda impressed that they even called me back on this issue. At least someone is listening.
P.S. There was a service bulletin issued in may (TCB# TC001-02) that is calling for different A/T fluid requirements

just did some research on service bulletins for the 2002 ES and I'm wondering what all of these mean and all. I got my ES back in mid December, so would any of these have anything to do with my car? Thanks
