I have an opportunity to purchase a 16" five lug 4.5 center wheel that was used as a spare on an SC400. I would like to know if it would fit a 1997 ES300 to be used as a spare only. Please let me know ASAP, thanks.

This question has come up b4 in this forum. The problem is that the SC is RW and the ES is FW. So the offset of the rim might be different. If it is then the rim could hurt the car. Sorry for the bad news JGroom

That's what I was afraid of.
I upgraded my wheels to 16" but I forgot about the spare which is still a 15"er. Do you think the offset of the RW will hurt if I only use it for a short time, (until I fixed the regular tire), or should I just use the 15" as a spare?
Thanks again - J

That reminds me, I don't know what the offset is exactly. Would it be the driving wheels or the rolling wheels that would cause the offeset problem. If you put the rolling wheels on the back of the ES and the driving wheels on the front, would that work? What about getting 4 rolling wheels and putting them on the ES?

I'd just keep the 15" as a spare, if you're just using it as the spare I see no reason to switch it, the SC wheel won't fit properly. Are your tires still the same overall diameter as stock? Even if there was a slight difference, the stock spare should do the job until you can get your tire fixed or replaced.

The offset on factory alloys, at least for the 92-96's, is 45mm. It's marked on mine. At one point, I saw somewhere that the SC430 uses a 45 offset, and somebody claimed to have SC430 wheels on a 98 ES a few months ago.

Good point Kyle. I forgot that the OD is the same on both 15" & 16" tires... only the wheel size is bigger and which the tire size is adjusted for. Thanks for pointing out the obvious : )

I have 2K2 SC430 wheels on my 98 ES. I had to put a spacer on the back wheels because they were touching my struts. I have an 1/8" spacer ...i wish i got a little bit bigger because they tuck under the well quite a bit. I just got some Intrax lowering springs for a V6 camry for 100 bucks on ebay and i'm puttin them on this weekend. The wheels tuck under the wheel well perfect. They look hot...my color is oyster pearl...they match perfect. I'll let you know how it rides and if it scrapes with the drop. Pics coming when the drop comes. 1
