Default P0135 Engine Light

Hey everyone, I have a 1997 Lexus ES300 with 140,000 km (around 87,000 miles). My CEL came on last Friday and I went to two separate places to run the CEL code and P0135 came up both times. Both garages have identified O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 is faulty. I have a couple of questions.

1. Is it safe to guess that the CEL would come off after replacing ONLY the Bank 1 Sensor 1 or should I replace both Bank 1 and Bank 2?

2. What other reasons can trigger P0135?

3. I also want to make sure that I am buying the right part to replace. From my research I have identified the following part numbers that can be replacements for Bank 1 Sensor 1. Can anyone confirm if I am correct on these numbers?

Bosch 13354
Toyota 89465-06100
Denso 234-4622

4. My CEL came on last friday, should I avoid driving the car until I have the O2 sensor replaced? Or would it be okay for short term? My plan is to have it replaced in 2 weeks.

Inputs are appreciated, thank you!

Click on the link, this will help you understand what is causing your CEL and how to fix it. From what I read, seem like you will need to replace the O2 sensor. http://www.obd-codes.com/p0135

Thanks angmedic 91. Is there anyone else that can shed some light on this P0135 CEL? Thanks.

Nothing else to shed. Just replace the 02 sensor bank 1 sensor1 as indicated by the scanner. It's easy to cross reference the part: go to Kragen, Autozone or Napa and they'll tell you what part you need. I would just change the one sensor. It's the most common to go first. The other ones seem to last a lot longer.
