Default Tranny Fluid Level

I own a 2001 es300 and I just recently changed the tranny fluid and ran it out the torque converter through the oil sending line to the radiator to get it completely fresh of fluid. Now I'm having a difficult time trying to find the level of to where the fluid should be on the dipstick I checked it when the engine was cold (overnight to the next day morning) and the fluid was dead center between cold and hot evidently is this exact and good... or should there be an adjustment as the engine gets hotter!?

transmission fluid expands with heat, the top notches on your dipstick are for when the car is hot

You should check the level when the vehicle is at normal operating temperature. I prefer to do it after about 5 miles of driving. Leave the vehicle on, in park, and check the level.

It should be at the top most dot, if not add more and check. Remember from the low - high dots, it is 1 quart. So add accordingly, careful not to overfill.

Don't rely on the Cold mark at all. It's the fluid level at normal operating temperature that's important.

5 miles will not get your fluid to operating temperature. I had a truck with a transmission temp gauge and it would take a good 20-30 miles of driving to get it up to temp.
