Question ES300 2001(automatic), 4000 rpm at 75 mph!?

Is my es300 2001(automatic) rpm too high or normal when it drives on freeway at 75 mph with around 4000 rpm? Does anyone have the same issue?

I don't know the exact rpm but that sounds way too high, I think it's usually below 3000. Either your O/D is off, you aren't in drive, or there is a problem with the tranny.

Sounds a bit high to me also.

Sadly I dont have my ES or else Id go test it right now. But if I had to guess, my ES would have been around 3200-3500 at 75mph

I just bought the vehicle so I have no idea. I've heard about O/D, where and what is it? Does it help in this case? This is weird. I always in drive. Tell me your rpm at 75 mph please.

O/D is 4th gear. There is a little switch below the button you use when you want to change gears. If O/D is off you will not use 4th gear and will stay in 3rd gear. And if O/D is off there will be light on the dash saying O/D off. My RX300 which has the same 3.0 V6 as your ES300 does about 3100 RPM at 75. Good luck!

Check your owners manual for the functions for the shifter an gears. Button is on the shifter, just below **** on left side. At least, thats where it is on my '97.

my 99 ran at 2700 rpm at 80mph with stock 15s. my 2000 runs at just over 3000 rpms at 80mph with 17 in lexus is300 wheels. There is definitely something wrong if it is out of that range. please tell me that you don't have 20s on it... LOL
