Will Accord's new 240hp V6 cause ES300 and Camry to do the same?

Honda just announced their new 2003 Accord will have a high output 240hp V6 to match Nissan Altima's V6. Since the Accord is Camry's number 1 competitor and the fact that the Camry V6 is now almost 50hp less compared to the Accord, do you think Toyota will upgrade their Camry and ES to at least match what Honda has? My own guess is ES will get bumped up to 240hp but the Camry will get maybe 220 or 230. Any thoughts on this? I personally think if the Camry and ES get this power jump, it'll really add some performance which they currently lack.

I am not sure of the ratings of the 3.3 liter V-6 all the current 3.0 cars will be replaced by. Expect something similar.

Looks like Motor Trend's Sept issue just confirmed what you guys are saying that the ES will be called ES330 and the RX will be RX330 due to their new 3.3L V6 displacing about 240HP which is due out in early 2003 for 2004MY. Guessing the Camry will get a detuned version of the 3.3L.

Yea I highly doubt that the Camry will get all the horses that the ES330 will, but it might be reasonable to think the camry might get 225 or 230. Then again, maybe Lexus will live on the edge and match the TL-S with 260 hp

match the TL-S with 260 hp
TL base has 225 hp from it's 3.2 V-6, the new ACCORD V-6 has 240hp from it's 3.0 liter V-6. The type-s has a 3.2 V-6 for 260. The new 3.3 liter from Toyota will be right at 240 hp.
240hp from a 3.0 V-6!

240HP 3.0L V6 does have its advantage one being gas mileage. But with that might come problems. Trying to push more than 100 hp per liter can tear and wear your engine faster. But risking gas mileage for reliability and more torque is well worth. That is what you get with the 3.3L V6.
