Charcoal Canister Location-2000 ES300

Default Charcoal Canister Location-2000 ES300

Anyone know where the chacoal canister is located on the 2000 ES300? I looked up where the fuel tank is and did not see it. Thanks!

EDIT: I think it is above the muffler, guess I will check this evening.

Charcoal canister for what? Some cars like Mercedes have a charcoal filter for the climate control to clean the air, is that what you are talking about?

It's almost directly above the rear axle (between the rear wheels).

Look up from underneath in that general area and you will see it.

It's part of the emissions system, all cars have had them since the 80's, perhaps even earlier. It captures the trapped fuel vapors out of the gas tank after the engine is shut off. Good diagram of how they are plumbed:

Thanks for the explanation, KLF.

It seems somewhat similar to the PCV system in the respect that is reintroduces the vapor back into the engine. Kind of like a pressure relief thing then. I have never seen anything like this on my Legend though. Maybe it doesn't have one or I just couldn't identify it.
