Default Installing heated seats in a '98

I just bought a 1998 ES300 a few weeks ago as my daily winter driver, what a nice driving car for being 12 years old and having 145,000 miles! I'd like to install heated seats (northern Michigan is cold!) in it and have a question about the wiring. Are all ES300s wired for heated seats (like how all ES300s have a slot for cabin air filters yet it's an option from the factory)? Someone local is selling heated front seats and the switches/shift bezel, can I just plug them and the switches in? Or would I have to wire them in myself?

I've already changed the spark plugs, drain/filled the transmission with Mobil One 3X + transmission filter, flushed the coolant, flushed the power steering fluid, replaced the blacked out LCD, replaced all 4 sway links, put in a cabin air filter, changed the belts, inspected the timing belt, restored the headlights, Zaino'd the car, etc. I'll be doing a few more maintenance items before it really starts getting cold out but heated seats would be extremely nice to have.

Thanks for the help!

I guess this can also serve as my introduction thread. I'm Sam, I live in Big Rapids, Michigan. I'm finishing up school for Automotive Engineering and just picked up the ES to replace my Tercel as a winter driver. My other vehicle is a 2000 S2000.

And the S2000

Looks like there wouldn't be any relays to install. I'll have to check and see if I have the heated seat fuse when I go home tonight. Also looks like S3 and S4 are the connectors for the switches, I'll have to pull up my bezel and see if they are there or not.

CarGuy,

I would check the wire harness routing in the maintenance manual and see if the harness is installed. Also, the fuse holder should have fuse recepticles if the wiring is installed to the fuse block.

Precisely, your best bet is to check if the bezel is hiding the wiring or not. If it is there, then i'd look for a fuse in its respective spot and pop one in as per the manual [once the seats are installed of course].
