LOL. It's a five speed. The difference between the five speed and auto looks substantial... Good run for an ES.

 

8.0 seems kinda slow for a 5-spd ES. Keep in mind that manufacturer estimates tend to be quite conservative. I recall '92-'93 5-spd Camry SEs getting 0-60 times in the 7.2-7.3 second range. The ES is probably a little heavier, but I still think it would be in the 7.5-7.7 second range for a manual. Car and Driver got an 8.2 second 0-60 run for an automatic '92 ES. BTW, C & D is the only magazine that corrects its acceleration figures for elevation, etc.
