Default Hello from new member!

Hello everyone,

My name is Cory and I live in the wonderful state of Ohio. About a month ago I was involved in an accident that totaled me beloved first car that I had been driving for the past seven years. It was a 95 Camry that I had been driving since I received my license in high school and was in mint condition with 174,000 miles.

Since I really enjoyed that car and was amazed by its reliability I decided to step up slightly to the 99 ES300 Coach Edition. I purchased this car from a well known dealer with 101,000 miles in very nice condition with a one owner history. After looking it over I discovered that the timing belt was done at 91,000 and it looks like some of the sway bar bushings have been replaced as well. So far the car has been great and runs like a champ even with the harsh winter weather we are having right now.

The only thing that really bothers me is the ridiculous overdrive lockout on the transmission. This is because the highway is probably 30 seconds from where I work and the car just doesn't warm up fast enough to shift into overdrive. So there I am stuck at 3500 rpm's until the engine warms up enough to shift into overdrive. However, other than that I really like this car and I hope to get many years out of it.

Here are some photos for you guys to check out and I look forward in meeting everyone in this community!

Here is a shot of the Camry.

Very nice!! I have to agree with you on the OD lockout, especially me coming from a manual transmission it drives me even more crazy!!!! That said, I don't think it hurts anything. My car is almost 207K miles and still runs like new. They run forever!!

Thanks guys, I really can't wait to start working on the ES and add some personal touches. That wood trim was actually put on by the previous owner and although the driver side vents look somewhat good, the passenger side looks pretty bad. So hopefully, this summer I might try and remove it and see what happens.

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase of the ES 300. I feel for your Camry as my ES 300 was rear-ended and finally totalled. Take good care of your ES and she'll last a very long time. Happy driving...

I have a client that just moved from Ohio and she stated that it's cold there in Ohio about ten months of the year...

Hey Trexus, thanks for the welcome! I will also have to agree with your client because this year has been brutal!
