sound system sounds good but i dont know what you mean when u say u want better performance. this might disappoint you, or maybe not...it will cost some amount of money for a 96 ES to perform like a sports car. to me its a long ways but i have seen some people do it. how bout a suspension mod maybe?? or just sell your car and buy something easier to mod. not being mean, just giving a heads up before u start modding your car and realize when your car is half naked that u want something else.

For a couple grand u could get a nice system altough dynamat is a must for our cars trunk. U could get a weapon r ecu upgrade and wr intake and exhaust with ram air. U could get advanced timing if u know someone who will do it for cheap. Other than that not much else u can do for speed that is cheap.

Weapon-R Intake (5-10hp) - $185
Stage I Heat Shield & Stage II Ram Air Kit upgrades for intake (5-10hp) - $85
Weapon-R ECU (claims 18-35hp) - $750
Torque Converter (better 0-60 time) - $500 to send in yours and have it tweaked into a performance TC, around $1100 for a new performance TC
Borla Cat-back Exhaust - $500
There ya go...if you do all this, you will have a very sporty ES. You'll still be wanting to lower it probably, and no $$ left for a system.
You can also improve your performance by doing little things - upgrading spark plugs, spark plug wires, adding strut bar ($30), etc.
Or you could go the pimp route and get some pretty nice wheels and an OK system with your $2k...but the performance stuff would be more unique IMO. (That is until I finish putting all that stuff on MY car. )
