Effects of using different tire size 04' ES330
Current stock tire size is 215/60-16
I was offered 205/55-16 brand new at a really good price.
I would like to know from the pros if it is worth changing tire size.
I have no idea if it is good or bad, I am a complete newbie.
This is what I have found.
Lexus 04' ES330
Original tire
Sidewall: 5.08 in
Radius: 13.08 in
Diameter: 26.16 in
Circumf: 82.18 in
Revs/mile: 771.03
New Tire
Sidewall: 4.44 in
Radius: 12.44 in
Diameter: 24.88 in
Circumf: 78.16 in
Revs/mile: 810.68
Speedometer reading with new tire is 4.89% too fast.
When your speedometer is reading 60mph you are actually traveling 56.91mph.
What would you do in this situation?
In advance Thank You for the help.

I have a 04 es and I would go with the stock tire size. Lexus put a lot of time to make these cars ride great. Messing around with tire size can mess up the ride. They design the suspension around a V rated tire. A high quality H rated tire will work. Go tirerack.com get some reviews on tires. Have fun, and good day.

Along with the difference in the tire diameter (speed, ride, gas mileage), there will be a mild stretch on the new tires, since your stock tires are 215, and the new ones are 205. The new tires are designed for a slightly narrower rim. This will lower the size of your contact patch and in certain cases, can lead to premature tire wear, but this is a slight stretch so it shouldn't be a big issue.
