^^ my setup is almost identical, less the cut out bottom [didn't get a chance to do that], instead of the HD ducting i actually had a cold air from a prelude that i cut and mounted to the underside [intake hole is still the same OEM size] so it gets in air through the bottom and not only from the top.

The hose is to bring the cool air to the filter, so that it isn't just sucking in hot engine air. The entire thing is made with Spectre DIY Intake parts.

Isn't the '01 ES a dual throttle body? I forgot what it looks like. I don;t think my setup would work, so 01LEXPL's would be the best.

Why wouldnt it work? it goes from 2-to-1. dual tb is on vvti engines from 99+ es.

pic of dual tb vvt-i from Lexmex post #6

See, i took the exact concept as you - but, where the two TB's are, i left the OEM piping...

In essence i only hacked up the box for the 'sound' aspect and it is different.

The couplers around the TB's are weird, as they are meant to be in motion for some reason, or vibration reduction and they're a weird size.

^^ maybe...

Don't mind the snow so much as the cold. Snowy roads FTW

Oh, I LOVE driving in the Snow! My Camry anyway, my Corolla is from FL and has crap all seasons and no ABS, so it;s not easy.

Boy did this get off topic, lol.

fixed my p0171 a minute ago, wasnt maf sensor which i thought/told so. in fact, was the air duct hose and resonator i removed when i installed the cold air intake pipe.

2600 bux for a supposedly used trd sc. sounds about right?

^ if you put the stock airbox on it will 'be okay' as well.

I removed all but the oem airbox.

And 2.6K sounds right for an S/C, but it won't work on your 2000 model. The S/C doesn't 'fit' on the 99-01 engines with VVTI, since the head is a little different. Unless you have the money & budget to re-machine the intake manifold IIRC.

^ Funny thing is I have been researching it, and I "think" I can get it to fit fine with using the none VVTi throttle body. The only physicle diff I can find is the VVTi throttle body, from twhat I know, has 1 more wire (4 in total) on the TPS, but the other 3 are the same, with the same readings. I don't have any car to test the theory on though. It won;t work on the VVTi engine with drive by wire though. Someone that knows what thier doing will try it one day, lol.

^^ good call, i dunno about the differences to be honest.

Since the ES300 isn't a performance car, i don't strive to get it running like one

But if the TB is the case, than it should work with a piggyback of some sort. Also, i remember reading that the manifolds we're physically different, but never noticed or searched it.

The intake plenum's themselves are completely different. The VVTi has a weird dual chamber plenum. The intake manifold itself "should" be the same. Hell, the TRD SC bolts directly into the 3VZ even. lol

thanks everyone for the info. it was well needed even though at the end it became way off subject hahaha!

But if i was to cut a hole in the bottom of my oem filter box an run a hose to my front bumper would i get any funny codes or will it work fine??

I'm looking for something which will advance the timing requiring 93 octane, and also take care of part throttle and fuel mileage. I don't expect a billion HP from having the timing advanced, but 10-15HP would be great.
