Default 00-01 taillight swap?

Hey guys, I know that this question has been covered many times before, but there seems to be one small controversy between everything that I have looked at. Some people say that the swap is a direct bolt on and nothing extra is required. On the other end I found that the wiring harness is different and that some modification of the wiring harness is required in order to make this work.

If someone could help clear this up I would really appreciate it.

I have a 98 ES300 and have personally done the swap over to the 00-01 taillights. It's a direct swap/bolt on, harness' are the same. Just disconnect the harness from the main loom for each tail light and connect to the 00-01 harness. The only difference is the bulbs. The bulbs are different on the 00-01 tail lights. So if your going to get bulbs from a parts store and they ask you what year is your car, you gotta remember the tail lights are from an 00-01, otherwise if you say 97-99, your going to have the wrong bulbs. Good luck with the upgrade, they are a lot nicer.

I have a full set of 01's sitting in my garage. Pm me an offer I believe all I needed was a harness that was like 20 bucks at the dealer. I can't remember if I still have it or what it's been a long time.... I also have other stuff that I've been meaning to put in the marketplace.

Don't mean to high jack this thread. The evolution eyelids you see on my sig. brembo front rotors with 300 miles, front strut bar, sc430 rims, Edit: D2 coilovers all but the front driver side missing, i think that's it.
