Oil Pressure light wont go off?
Ok just we just got the 1996 es 300. CEL was on when we got it, and so was the Oil Pressure light. Had it checed and the only code that came up was for the O2 sensors. The car is not running right. It idles rough and too low. engine is misfiring, Stalls out at lights. was told it was the oil sending unit. i replaced it, and it still acting the same way. check engine light was off for a while, but came back on. any ideals as to what it might be? oh the oil pressure is fine so i now it isnt the oil pump.

Does it take a long time to start when cold, I mean does crank and crank then kick in but with rough idle then properly rise to warming idle?
Do you smell unburnt fuel when starting?
It may be your fuel pressure regulator, if you have a vacuum pump you can properly test it but if not just swap it out and you will be surprised that it will start right up, no mis-fires and better fuel economy.
I suspect when peops use products like seafoam or anything with alcohol in it will damage the diaphram of the regulator and causing it to fail.

Its the oil pressure light that throughs me off. the light comes on and flickers. the only code it was throwing the other day was for the o2 sensors, but i havent went yet to get the CEL rechecked. it was misfiring last night. what code would it throw bac if it was the fuel pressure regulator?

Fuel Pressure Regulator regulates fuel to the injectors. if damaged, it will either starve or flood that or front bank of coils causing a mis-fire and throw Mis-fire codes. and horrible idle and unburnt fuel smell.
If you have a vacuum, you can test it for a leak.
The light is a mystery, it is obviously defective, if it really bothers you and you can risk not having that light, pull it from the instrument cluster. just take care when removing the cluster not to break the mounting tabs, remove all screws under the covers before tugging at it.
