Sludge in oil fill area - any remedy?
#16
Also, my bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor just went out, is that the rear-most sensor on the exhaust?
Pardon the ignorance, but does this sealant weaken over time and become prone to leaks or should I be looking elsewhere and forget about that mess?

AndyG- I just did my oil pan yesterday. You can get the FIPG sealant at the dealer, or I used this stuff called "The Right Stuff" gasket maker (got it at the local auto parts store). Works amazing. Used it on several cars of mine. The oil pan is so easy to fix. Just make sure you clean it and get all the old sealant off!! There are 10 bolts, and 2 nuts to undo, and then get a putty knife, that you would use to fix holes in your drywall, and carefully use that to seperate the pan from the motor. Mine was stuck pretty good but the putty knife worked amazing (got that idea from another forum member). Then use brake cleaner or something similar, and I used a gasket scraper and a metal dish scrubber to get the old crap off. You will see that it is SOO EASY... one of the easiest fixes I have done.
