My tires are making a loud sound like my old jeep back the day ,the faster I go the louder it gets, wump wump wump wump my son says he likes the sound and it puts him to sleep, but it is driving me crazy .
I got two new tires on the front and thought it would eliminate the problem but no luck .
The tire shop said I have bad shocks and my tires wearing uneven .
So my questions is should I get 4 shocks/struts then 2 new back tires or get the back tires first and see if the problem goes away, then get the shocks .
Maybe I just answered my question
Any help would be appreciated thanks guys...

In my opinion shocks / struts shouldn't make a "wump"-ing sound unless going over bumps or if turning and the strut bearings are bad. Does the car make the noise all the time even with a smooth road and going straight? If so I think you should attack the tire issue first, but you should have an alignment done regardless since you invested in new tires. They ain't cheap!!!!!

How many miles on the car?
FWD cars can cause a cupping condition on the rear wheels - especially if the rear struts/shocks are going - and it makes a noise as you describe.
If this is the problem - you will just destroy the new tires.
Why did he say you need new shocks? If they are leaking or they are no longer working then you may need new ones. It can be a very dangerous situation if they are bad.

The tire shop recommended shocks so my tire would last. He didn't mention any leaks but it does rides mushy compared to when the car was new.
He did mention the bearing appeared to be fine but maybe he was wrong ?
The car has almost 140k
My mechanic thinks its the bearings?
I think I am going start with the bearings first then proceed with the other stuff .
Were should I get the bearings? Is there more than one bearing per wheel or one solid assembly bearing per wheel ?
Mark

Do the bearings, then again any shop would be able to tell you which bearing if its in the air to tell you which side to replace.
I got my bearing online since it was significantly cheaper than anywhere else. I saved 50$ than the next 'cheapest' place locally. Gotta love canadian prices
