Slow Acceleration
Hello everyone!
I own a 1996 lexus es300
The old ***** is rollin up on 300k and i don't want to have to part ways with her!
My problem is as followed, My check engine light has been on for quite some time thought it may be an o2 sensor knocking around due to it coming on and off when hitting bumps.
now recently i knotice when i step on the gas i barley get any pull and it feels as if the motor is trying to push out the power but it dosn't give me the pull it use to, I replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, did an oil change, checked for a plugged cat, my mechanic did a diagnostic on it and the knock sensor code came up he told me he dosn't think thats the problem and that to get in there and replace it is going to cost more then the car is worth.
the idle is fine but i knotice when i am accelerating the tac will gradualy climb then drop a few rps only noticable when you really look at it though.
i'm not sure what it could be my friend said maybe a dirty mass airflow sensor?

Sounds like a knock sensor to me. When my knock sensor failed, the car would go into limp mode if the RPM's went above 2,700 or so. Under that it had plenty of power.

Hey lexucan, how confident are you telling me it's the knock, i do love my car and i'm not sure how much it would cost to replace the knock is so i want to be 100% sure it's the knock before i go all out to rescue her Thanks!
