Exclamation 1997 lexus es 300. Im having both back and from bumper issues.

There is mold all over the back and front bumpers of my 1997 lexus es 300 .
There is alot of pitting of the paint down to the primer and it is very rough.

wow thats weird, was the car in a flood or something? did you try to power wash it off?

If it's contamination on top of the clearcoat, you can always clay the area and it will be good as new; polish after claying and it will look even better. If it's through the clearcoat, only option is a respray unfortunately. Very odd, never seen that before.

To add to that, if I were you, I'd pull the carpet and cover in the trunk to see if the spare tire area is not flooded... do that ASAP.

its not flooded because my parents have had this car since like 2001 and it came off the lot. we just live in florida were it is very humid and the car was sitting it the driveway un waxed and the elements just got to the bumpers. ( rest of the cars fine )

what do you mean by clay the area?

Is this confined only to the top portions of the bumper? I would suspect a clear coat failure. With your humid conditions humidity is seeping between the clear and paint, this could explain the darkness/mold.

since your gonna have to sand it down anyway I would try a little bleach and warmwater to kill the mold . It might stain your paint ??? If your gonna get it resprayed anyway its not gonna hurt to try.

Yes only on the top not the bottom.. Yea I think I may sand it down then paint it black to match my soon to be black rims

Is rustoleum good paint to repaint with also clear coat?
