Default RPM's while highway driving

Hi. I have a 1995 ES300. While driving on highway/interstate the engine runs 4000 RPM's at 75 MPH. Is this about normal--it almost seems that there might be another cruising gear range in the auto. trans. When I press the ECT power button on console (for trans.) nothing seems to happen. Is that normal? Thanks.

Mine is barely at 3000 when at 75MPH. It sounds like your Overdrive isn't working properly. There is a button on the shifter, try pressing it and see if that helps.

ECT is something I have no experience with.

I had a similar issue but I'd get a 1000-1500 RPM jump after removing my foot from the acceleration pedal... My throttle cable had to much slack and it was hanging up on the heat/noise shield underneath the hood. (had to adjust the 2 nuts on the cable to make it tighter)
