tail light problem

Default tail light problem

ok this is the problem , i have a 99 es300 and this only happens when i turn on the lights and press the breaks , the tail light picture on the dash comes on and when i let the breaks go the light goes away , but it only happens when u turn the lights on , when u press the breaks in the day when u dont have the lights on the the tail light picture does not come on, checked the tail lights and none of them is out

It's a warning light letting you know that one of your brake lights is out and needs replaced. Have someone hit the brakes for you and you'll notice.

i did that no lights are out though

Loose connection with the bulb in any of the lights. Take each one and clean each contact point with rubbing alcohol and put it back in. Should take care of the problem assuming the lights are 100% working and not doing the half brightness thing that some lights have

i clean all the bulbs and inspected the the wire loom and everything was good , but the light still comes on

Hmm, could be a bad connection somewhere else then. Keep an eye on your lights within the next few weeks

Just ignore it. This is a common issue.

ONe suggested fix was to take ALL of the bulbs and buy matching ones - all from one company since they're made in one way. Not mixing and matching.

I've had this light on for about 3 yrs now. Sometimes it goes on, other times it doesn't. Meh.
