Ok I have a 1996 ES300 with 188k on it and has oil leaks from valve covers, oil pan...and gaskets that seem to be replaced thru timing belt service. Now my plans are to buy all the parts and have a mechanic friend do the work...I'd like to know what's all being replaced with the timing belt w/ water pump replacement? Are there other gaskets/bearing I need or should replace while the timing belt/water pump are being replaced? I've talked to 2 separate shops and much was explained but verbally not written(I guess to keep me with them) TIA

- Cam seals
- Crank seal
- Idler bearing
- Tensioner bearing
- Tensioner (can be re-used if not leaking)
- Timing belt
- Water pump
- Valve cover gasket set (should come with spark plug seals and PCV valve grommet)
- Valve cover compression washers
- A/C belt
- PS pump belt
- PCV valve
- Intake manifold gasket
- EGR pipe #2 gasket (often can be re-used)
Oil pan might be leaking as well, if so then you'll need RTV, and 3 gaskets for the flex pipe, two for the downpipe and one to the catalytic.

Some choices on Ebay
One
Two (my favorite)
I prefer OEM valve cover gaskets, but Felpro makes good ones too. Sorry for the long URL, but this board sensors some websites for some reason (?)

I even left a few things out like coolant, spark plugs and a thermostat.

I talked to a local Lexus dealer and was told that this is needed and/or recommended:
2 crank seals(edited 1 not 2)
2 cam seals
Water pump
Idler pulley
Tensioner pulley
Timing belt
lol Lexus Rep just called and stated just front crank seal not rear. Now I'm not a mechanic which if I was I'd follow your route but I think the above mentioned is route I'm taking due to money constraints and my biggest old leak is fixed by replacing crank seal(if I recall what I was told) so no replacing valve covers gaskets yet and oil pan it's not yet determined if it's leaking.
