Default Engine Swap into ES?

My friend has got a 1994 Lexus ES300, he wanted to know if you could swap a Supra Engine into it? Considering both are toyota. Is this possible?

With enough money, yes, I'm sure it can be done.

Let us know if he ever does it.

Honestly, engine swapping is a bad idea for the ES. If you have enough money, go ahead and try, but its just not worth it. Are you talking about a Supra N/A or TT engine? Keep in mind that the ES is FWD, so installing an engine as powerful as the 2JZ TT will likely give you some crazy torque steer.

Default umm...

i might not be an expert on toyota engines but i personally was considering a 240sx with an SR20DET swap over my ES300 (which i'm glad i bought over the 240 now)

well unlike honda's B and D series engines, i doubt the 2jz would just bolt on.. not to mention the drive train is totally different.... FWD tranny and RWD tranny...

imho, its impossible....

Check out fensport.com the 3sgte would be your safest bet tough it would still be difficult. You'd be better off having a custom built twin turbo built for it. There was a post a that awhile back. This isn't a cheap mod though.

i have a 94 ES300 and i wanted to do the same thing....switch with a supra engine that is...but after talking to others in a UK forum I was abruptly turned away from this idea....they said that the only thing similar on these engines are the block size and es has front wheel v6 and the supra is a rear wheel straight 6 and would require a whole new trany.... the other thing is that there were SEVERAL upgrades needed to counter act the increase HP....brakes, trany, and several other things....in my opinion...keep the ES or get a supra...one or the other!!

keep in mind the major difference on these cars... supra (RWD) and ES300 (FWD)

first of all... know that front wheel drive engines are usually mounted perpendicular to the car (bleh... dunno how to say it)

and the supra engine is mounted straight..

even if they were the exact same engine keep in mind cuz it RWD the supra engine mounts on differently, a good example is the KA24DE (altima and 240sx engine) both these cars use the same engine but its still not swappable because the 240 is rwd and the altima is not....

not to mention the supras GETRAG 6 can take a lot of punishment....

This is not a supra engine. The 3sgte is the mr2 engine and fensport offers it in a front/rear cut form because they have swapped it into front and rearwheel drive cars. Just sayin that it would be the best engine to swap with. Or u can try a maxima supercharged engine. Just my opinion though.

actually, if someone has enough money (which would be a lot obviously) to figure a swap like that into a ES safely, effectively, and with good results, i encourage it. as for fwd/rwd issues....Adam Saruwatari changed the stock midship engine/rwd Acura NSX into a pooooooowerful front engine drag thang. but keep in mind he is a PRO with many sponsors, not a kid messing with a civic. that's the downside... not so easy for us to DO like him.
