Is there a way to know if the Instrument Cluster is the original in a vehicle??

I ask because when I removed the cluster to update the backlighting (to LEDs), I discovered the ODO/Trip molex connector was shoved down a little squeeze space behind the cluster housing. This prompted me to immediately conclude someone else removed the unit sometime before I acquired the vehicle. So, is there a way to know if it's the original unit??n

Odds are that the cluster may have been previously removed to deal with some burnet out bulbs.

If all is Ok, I would not worry about it.
