It really depends on the season, especially here in the Pacific Northwest where it's cloudy/rainy about 75% of the year. But during the summer when it's nice out, it's definitely a weekly job for me, sometimes more if I'm bored. Otherwise, it's probably about once a month during the Fall/Winter.

I detail/touch it up 2-3 times a week. If it doesn't rain for two weeks? Well my life got easier and i just dust it off, polish it up, tire shine, etc.

In other words, she's never dirty. The elements refuse to stick to the finish

Edit; I meant hand-wash. I only run it thru the car wash in the winter occasionally, and clean the hell out of it all summer/spring/fall long by hand. The odd time i'll find myself putting it thru the 'quick' wash in the summer and touch it up at home with some quick detailer & tire shine.

Damn... I guess im the lazy one here... Im about once a month...
Short Story:
What are your thoughts on a season pass automated car wash for 180? How would you guys compare a hand washed car(with the right products of course) to a automated car wash?
Long story:
I was at a gas station im thinking it was ESSO and went inside to pay for the first time in forever and the guy there mentioned it to me. Its $180 and you get unlimited car washes for the year(I think... hopefully but with the title season makes me rethink). This would def motivate me to get my car washed more but the weather is warming up so I would do it by hand more frequently now.

hand wash>>>>>>automated car wash..its just that i dont trust those brushes that hit the paint ..but if u cant wash @ home for some reason then u should try to find underground parking lots . They have high pressure too. I m sure most do have them . u just have to bring your bucket, mits, dry towels/cloth. Its should be prolly like 2 bucks. If we have it in Halifax, then in a bigger city like ON should def have it. \
PS: i didnt have to pay for "parking" underground bcoz there are banks that provide free parking ..i think $180/yr/unlimited is not bad. but not for a Lexus brand.

uhhhh... not the year bro. If it was that cheap, EVERYONE would get it.

Its valid for 90 days [well, in Ottawa at least], and its one wash per day... they heavily advertise this in the winter months, which i'm gonna get next year for sure.

A yearly pass is more along the lines of 300-500$

Once a week. But with the hail of pollen here in GA, once I drive to work it's completely covered with the green crap. Once the season passes, the touch ups will be added on a multi-weekly (as necessary). And always hand wash, at least I KNOW what type of treatment she is getting.

Lol I knew it too good to be true!Im positive its the same here... thought that the "Seasonal" part in the title was a bit miss leading. O well 3 months or 90 sounds more like seasonal... I kinda like that top of the line(with the weather gaurante) wash they got because you get 2 washes within the 48 hours so I can wash the lex and my suv for the price of 1.

In the winter months, I also take my car to the car wash on occasion. HOWEVER, I never take it to those car washes with the rotating brushes. I could not stand seeing those rub against my paint. The only car was I go to is a touch-free car wash that uses pressure washers to clean the car. It's definitely not as clean as a hand wash, but good for a quick wash when it's too cold to bust out the hose and bucket.

If you have a delta sonic near you, you cant get unlimited washes for 22 bucks a month, definitely worth it in the winter.

Now that I know how to properly wash and polish my car, there's absolutely NO WAY I would ever put it in an automated car wash. Even the "brushless" ones. If you knew the chemicals they put in that water, you wouldn't either. I had a student a few years ago that had a side business maintaining those things, and he told me he wouldn't even put his own car in one. Many of them recycle a lot of their water, so they are just dumping dirty stinky water back on your car. I'd let it stay dirty first.

Washing my car for me is an all day project. I can't find the time to do it more than once a month, and only in the summer. I honestly haven't washed my car since November, and it looks surprisingly good still, thanks to spending over 2 days on it last Fall with my PC polisher and a lot of Zaino products. Dirt just doesn't stick to it.

I wash my car twice a week, weather permitting.
I wash my wife's car once a week, wife permitting (she's always on the go).
