This Sucks, I can't Believe it...
well, that a/c problem of mine has an attitude of its own. these past few days/weeks has been pretty decent weather-wise in los angeles so i didnt need much from the a/c....but today my car's outside temp reading said 118 degrees and it was 4:30 pm!!! my car had been parked in the heat most of the day and when i decided to take her for a spin, the a/c spat out HOT air. not warm air, HOT stuff. and driving around for a few minutes doesn't help either. it seemed to only get hotter. so...bottom line is, MY CAR'S A/C DOESN'T WORK ONLY WHEN THE WEATHER BECOMES WARM. it is fine when its cool. so a totally useless system. i was sweating beads. when i got out, i could wring sweat out of my clothes. totally gross and i'm not lying. Another thing i noticed...the hotter my car is, the more the needles become blacked out. when i cold start the car, only about 2 tiny sections are dark but like i said, i hot started it today and most of my speedo needles were out. DO I NEED TO MOVE TO SNOWLAND?? where do you guys live? can i get a weather report?

AC eh????
Dude wats up with Cali these past few days!!!! Damn hoT! What happened to my AC was I ran out of Freon, so I took it in and refilled it. But you know how when you hit that A/C button and the engine kinda kicks in your car slows down basically thats when you know your AC is on.....mine never turned on, so I thought it could be the controller, or worse yet, the compressor!!!! But good thing it was just the freon, the dude said that if freon is low your ac just wont work, so dude just check your freon. Also, check your AC valves....mine was leaking so just get those replaced, its like 10 bucks, that could be the reason why the freon leaked like mine did. :-)

A/C EXPANSION VALVE DEFECT!
A/C EXPANSION VALVE DEFECT!
I had the exact same problem it would be cold for like 20 minutes and then all of a sudden blow hot air and then next day cold again. I took it to Dealer A and they "thought" it was freon - they charged me like $75 and I STILL had the same problem. Frustrated I called Dealer B and I explained my problem. I have a 95 ES300 and Dealer B said it was a common problem for ES of my era and that there was a defect in these A/C EXPANSION VALVES. Anyway, they replaced the EXPANSION VALVE for $325 parts & labor TOTAL and now my A/C works like a CHARM! I had it fixed back in early May and I've been COOL ever since. By the way I have 111K+ on my 1995 and this was the ONLY defect I ever had. It still runs like a TOP!

thanks for your replies. i dont think my car was under the "a/c valve defect recall" cuz i never got a notice. how do you check your freon?? it was a bit cooler today (but 110 degrees) and i parked in the garage so when i started the car up today it blew really cold air. would the a/c still blow cold air if it had no freon??

According to the dealer, my AC is on its last legs, and will soon need a replacement ($1500- ouch!). I've been trying to avoid using AC that much this summer for that reason. Anywayz, I hope its not a major problem w/ your car meZoom, good luck.
